Furosemide (Lasix)

Diuretic furosemide (lasix) – one of the strongest diuretics used in medicine – for which pressure, in bodybuilding and other sports – for “drying the body”

Dosage

The initial dose is 20-80 mg / day. Furosemide can be used in monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive drugs. The usual maintenance dose is a dose of 20-40 mg / day. When furosemide is added to already prescribed drugs, their dose should be reduced by 2 times.

Furosemide side effects

When using the drug, too many ions (electrolytes) can be “washed out”, since their effect is stronger than the function of the kidneys in maintaining the balance of ions.
Along with urine excretion, there is almost always a state of imbalance in internal electrolytes, deficiency of important trace elements, which can affect the functioning of the brain, muscles and heart.
The main reason for the side effect of furosemide is that it blocks the mechanism of the return of sodium, potassium and chloride to the blood from filtered urine, and with it calcium and magnesium ions.
